At the end of 2007 Colorado Springs ranked 70th out of 160 Cities with an affordability index of 65.1% based on median income.
However, Colorado Springs is slowly becoming less affordable based on increased material costs and government fees. The percentage of households that could afford to buy the median priced home dropped from 74.2% in the 4th Quarter of 2004.
What does that Mean?
While still more affordable than many metro areas - including Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins - Colorado Springs is getting more expensive - reducing opportunities to buy new homes in the future.
